The week of Oct. 23 is Baron Time Week. Teachers are asked to give each of their classes at least one period of Baron Time throughout the week.

Baron time week is a pre-pandemic practice that the B-CC administration has put back into place this year. There are ten planned Baron Time weeks this year, most of them occurring near interims or the end of the quarter. Baron Time is meant to be a period where students have the chance to catch up on missing assignments, do homework, or attend a reteach.

The week of Sept. 26 was the first Baron Time Week of this year. B-CC Senior Pepper Margulis reflected, “While one full period is supposed to be free for students, many teachers decided to assign an assignment and say Baron Time would occur for the rest of the period, once we had finished.” She added, ”Some teachers even put tests the following day, forcing most students to spend their Baron Time studying for the test.” Other have reserved the time for students as a free period to catch up on work or to take a mental health break.
