Food Truck Fridays are officially returning to Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School this December and a new lineup of trucks is expected to arrive. The first event drew huge crowds, long lines, and plenty of excitement, offering students a fun new way to enjoy lunch without having to travel far. What many people didn’t realize was how challenging the event was to organize. Since B-CC had never hosted food trucks on campus before, the SGA had to work around numerous restrictions that complicated the planning process. Schoolwide SGA member Lila Tynan explained that the event faced many behind-the-scenes obstacles. “It was never done before because there were so many restrictions,” Tynan said.
Once the event finally took place, the response was overwhelmingly positive. Amy Maguire, a junior at B-CC, was especially impressed by the variety of food options available. “I really enjoyed the variety of food that was offered through all the food trucks. There were just, like, so many different choices, which was really nice cause it felt like everyone could find something they liked,” she said.
With strong student feedback and even more trucks expected in December, Food Truck Fridays are already shaping up to be B-CC’s newest traditions. Thanks to the hard work of the SGA, this exciting event could be here to stay.
