B-CC Chamber Singers singers performed at the Governor’s Mansion in Annapolis for the State Staff Holiday Party on Thursday, Dec. 7. Their 50-minute performance consisted of various holiday tunes and led to a State Proclamation. This is the first time in nine years the chorus has received this honor.

Selected Chamber Singers, under the directorship of Lisa Itkin, performed at the Governor’s Mansion in Annapolis (Joe Andrucyk).

Although the Chamber Singers consist of 31 members, Governor Moore’s wife, who is in charge of these events, would only allow Ms. Itkin to bring 12 singers from her ensemble. She said, “I had to have auditions for these 12 coveted spots. Then those twelve worked during lunch to prepare for this performance.”

Senior Nalia Ahmed said, “I was mesmerized walking into the State House. It was heavily decorated and gorgeous. I was really honored to sing for the governor. He was so kind, and shook all of our hands.” Shaye Strong Jacobson added, “For the hour we performed there were over 300 people there. It was a really cool experience!”

The Chamber Singers will also perform their Christmas Carol Medley at The Zoo Lights event at the Smithsonian National Zoo this holiday season.
