The stakes were high as the B-CC Barons took on Kennedy for their Senior night on Thursday, October 10th. The Barons got ready to say goodbye to twelve key players on their Varsity team. “We’re all really proud of them and were sad to see them go but also so excited for their futures,” Sophomore Anna Harcourt said. You could see the emotion and love radiating off the girls and their parents as they walked down the field. The Guck was decorated with blue and yellow ribbons and had posters of the Girls and Boys lining the fence. The energy was through the roof, with the players dancing and cheering waiting for the game to start. Despite the delay of the game due to Kennedy being late, you could still feel the excitement of these Barons coming right off the field during warmups as parents and fans arrived.
The Barons started off the game with frequent possession of the ball. A lot of passing up front and good first touches which led to a goal from Senior Frances Doyle early in the first half. With seventeen minutes left in the first half, Senior Jane Kolakowski ripped past the goalie with a great goal. Not long after Senior Julia Holland followed her fellow teammates with another goal. With three minutes left in the first half Sophomore Claire Yonly came in with an amazing goal, the Barons crushed the first half leaving the score 4-0. When the whistle blew for the second half it was obvious that the Barons were still full of energy. Sophomore Amy Maguire scored just under 5 minutes into the second half with an assist from Sophomore Anna Harcourt. B-CC continued to maintain possession well enough that freshman Annabelle Miller could get their sixth goal of the night. They ended the game with another goal from Senior Frances Doyle making the final score 7-0.
Shortly after, the ceremony started and the underclassmen lined up to cheer on their seniors. As a parade of players was being made, the girls and boys linked arms with their parents. It was an emotional event, watching the Barons walk down the field as Seniors. Congratulations to the Class of 2025 Girls Varsity Soccer Seniors!
