How To Survive Until the Next Break

January through March brings unpredictable cold weather and repetitive daily routines, yet taking advantage of free time is the perfect way to make these months leading up to Spring Break more bearable.

The long countdown to Spring Break has begun.
  1. Take advantage of your weekend

January through March brings unpredictable cold weather and repetitive daily routines, yet taking advantage of free time is the perfect way to make these months leading up to Spring Break more bearable. The winter season is a great time to make memories with friends. From ice skating to sledding to indoor activities by the fireplace, winter activities are extra special. Morgan Kirsch, a B-CC senior, remarked that she will go skiing and ice skating to embrace the season, even though it’s cold. She said, “I will read by the fire and do other relaxing indoor activities, like drinking hot chocolate and going to the movies with friends.” Taking advantage of weekends and days off of school truly is the most exciting way to anticipate the upcoming break.

     2. Maintain a positive mindset and stay motivated

Most of us struggle with this one. Staying positive during a time full of excitement for upcoming trips and burnout from school exams is not easy. However, Senior Gigi Dufour has had no problem so far with keeping a positive mindset throughout these repetitive weeks of school. Dufour says, “I look forward to the weekends where I spend my time doing fun activities with my friends.” Instead of dreading how long a week is, think about all the special moments you could make happen each day, or how you want to plan a 3-day weekend coming up.

      3. Create a countdown of days until break

Picture this: you’re in 7th period, and it’s the last day of school before spring break. The bell rings in two minutes, and you’re struggling to finish the remaining questions on your quiz, as you know your parent is picking you up and taking you straight into a week of fun and relaxation. You check your phone, and BAM, the countdown till break is done. Break is here. School is out. You sigh and look down at your phone, grateful for tracking each day throughout the months leading to the break. Creating a countdown or simply just keeping track of how many days are left until Spring Break is the most thrilling and efficient way to anticipate the fun coming around the corner. Plus, you can make a game out of it among friends and family!

    4. Set goals to accomplish before break starts

It’s really hard, but keep going with those New Year’s resolutions you made! Whether that means continuing to go to the gym or just taking a simple walk outside to get some exercise, keep going! You could even set some new academic goals to work towards, as this new semester is fast approaching. We all can continue setting high standards for ourselves, in whatever way shape, or form. Also, seeing your progress throughout these long months is more than a reward. “Before Spring Break starts, I want to begin creating my artwork. I’ve been an art teacher forever but have never done something so huge, where I am working independently to create something I truly love,” said Ceramics teacher Ms. Praisner.

Keep going, Barons! You can do it!
