The Barons pulled out a key victory on Wednesday night, Oct. 26, defeating Winston Churchill 2-1 in the first round of the playoffs.

Goals were scored by seniors Emilio Castano and Sergio Gomez, with Gomez adding an assist. B-CC went 1-0 down late in the second half, but they were able to battle back on a penalty won by senior captain Theo Yonly. Gomez coolly slotted home the shot. With less than five minutes left, the Barons won a free kick on the left wing, and after a good ball in from Gomez, Castano was able to head it into the net, winning the game for B-CC.

Gomez said, “The playoffs might be more of a challenge, but I do not think it will have any effect on myself or my teammates. We just need to keep giving one hundred percent and working hard, just like we have been since the beginning.” Stellar goalkeeping by Senior Noah Brown was enough to see the game out and come away with a difficult win on the road.

The Barons will continue their playoff run away at Quince Orchard on Saturday night, Oct. 28.
