Andy’s Pizza: A New Lunch Spot for B-CC Students

The 2021 International Pizza Expo champion, Andy’s Pizza, is now available on East-West Highway. The new Bethesda location is one of seven throughout the DMV, with others located in McLean, Alexandria, and D.C.

Andy’s Pizza has become a hot spot at lunch due to its proximity to Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School. While the classics, Chipotle and Starbucks, are still popular with students, the lines for Andy’s Pizza extend out of the door.

Andy’s is well known for their all-natural tomato sauce, fresh cheese, and hand-crafted dough that is fermented for 72 hours and cooked in a New York deck oven.

“You’re going to get a little pricey here at Andy’s, coming in at about two slices and a drink for ten bucks,” said B-CC Junior Ethan Makle, “but, boy, is it worth it. The pizza itself is just amazing, and a spectacular place to go for lunch.”

Andy Brown, the owner, is a Montgomery County native. He has been featured in publications such as the Washingtonian and WTOP news and has aspirations to be the best New York-style pizza shop in the area.

With a unique take on the classic New York-style pizza, the newly opened Andy’s Pizza has proven it belongs among the B-CC lunchtime food-spot elites and will likely become a staple of the quickly expanding Bethesda metro area.

According to Brown, his pies are unique, because he is self-taught. He said, “I think not working at a pizzeria was really beneficial in that the learning kind of came without restrictions. Whenever other pizzeria guys come in they say, ‘I’ve never seen anybody do it like that.’”
