Following a short hiatus on spring break, the Barons Girls and Boys Varsity Track teams jumped right back into action at Walter Johnson HS for a tri-meet with WJ and Wootton. Despite finishing third in both the Girls and Boys team totals, each team pieced together a plethora of strong individual finishes. On the girls side of things, sophomore Kennedy Cordle finished 2nd in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.43 seconds. Sophomore Sophie Harjes also put together a very strong performance in the 3200 meter with a time of 12:00.46 minutes, en route to a first place finish. For the boys, seniors James Bellew and Teni Ayodeji led the charge. Bellew finished 1st in the Boys 1600m with a time of 4:42.66 and Ayodeji finished 3rd in the 200 meter with a 24.14. Both set personal records in their respective races. These coming weeks will be the true battle test for the Barons. They’re set to race at three invitationals in just as many weeks and will look forward to the notoriously competitive MCPS invitational in early May. The Barons finished strong last season and look to follow suit with another competitive finish this year.
