Barons–>Bearcats

Dominick Anderson and Andrew Doerr

Malia Adams, one of the stars on last year’s Barons women’s lacrosse team, recently announced her commitment to the University of Cincinnati. Malia, who plays midfield, finished the year with 68 goals, 35 assists, and a 78% draw control percentage, leading the barons to their first-ever state championship appearance. On a team rooted deep in senior talent, Malia was the only Junior to earn a spot as a captain. Entering her senior year, Malia is excited to continue her leadership role on the team and is looking forward to being a teammate the underclassmen can look up to.
After a “long recruiting process,” Malia landed on the Bearcats, a Division one school that plays in the American Atlantic Conference. When asked about why she chose Cincinnati, Malia replied, “I love the coach and what the team stands for.” Malia has always dreamt of playing in division one lacrosse and is excited to challenge herself at the next level.
Heading into her fourth and final lacrosse season here at B-CC this spring, Malia is motivated to make a return to the state final. After falling short in a tough loss to Broadneck last season, Malia wants to leave her mark on the record books and clear up some of her remaining unfinished business. She feels that this year’s team, even after losing many key seniors, can go out and repeat the success they had last season.
