With spring sports around the corner, the boys’ lacrosse team is gearing up for the 2024 season. The Barons finished last season with a regular-season record of 7-7, finishing fifth in the MCPS South division, and ended their postseason with a 9-7 loss against Walter Johnson.

B-CC’s first game will be on March 22 at home against Blake but the season really started in the summer with off-season training and captains practices. The Barons have put in work all offseason for tryouts.

Last season, the B-CC defense excelled, holding teams to under 10 goals in 11 of 15 matchups. The defense will also be adding senior Gonzaga transfer, Frank Cull. Junior, Danny Boyle and senior, Julien Holbrook will also be returning for the season.

While the defense is improving, the offense and midfield lost key players including All-American, offensive-midfielder, Aaron Tiao along with JP Houseman who was third in points. B-CC also lost face-off man Jake Williams, who was second-team all-county. The offense and midfield did retain notable players Danny Loughlin and Johnny Bruun, who both made second-team all-division last season.

The entire B-CC attack will have big shoes to fill as four of B-CC’s five top scorers have all graduated. “Playing together as a team, getting everyone involved, and playing with a lot of energy,” sophomore Owen Isaacson said when asked about how to fill the gap of players who graduated.

With three weeks until the season opener, B-CC boys’ lacrosse will have some work to do to get back to the regional championship like two years ago.
