Barons Ice Hockey defeated Wootton in the second round of the playoffs last Friday, Feb. 9, at Cabin John Ice Rink. The Barons took an early lead and never looked back, winning by a score of 10-4.

The match began with an early goal by Senior Danny Loughlin, assisted by Sophomore Benjamin Lyons and Senior Collin Eccles. Eccles then quickly scored an unassisted goal of his own. Sophomore Henry Swann scored soon after, assisted by Seniors Will Swann and Loughlin. Senior Aleksandr Talty added to the Barons’ lead with an unassisted goal during a power-play. With only 26 seconds left in the period, Henry Swann scored his second goal of the game. The first period ended with B-CC leading 5-0.

Senior Matthew Duffy scored early in the second period for the Barons with a goal assisted by Sophomore Peter Lanpher. Wootton made their first goal of the game soon after, followed by another goal by Senior Sebastian Harrison, and assisted by Seniors John Bruun and Duffy during a power-play. With only 49 seconds left in the second period, Wootton scored during a power-play to chip into B-CC’s lead. The period ended with B-CC up 7-2.

Wootton came out firing in the third period with another power-play goal. B-CC responded with Talty scoring his second goal of the game, assisted by Bruun. Wootton scored yet another power-play goal, followed by Duffy scoring his second goal of the game, assisted by Eccles. Talty then scored his third goal of the game, earning himself another playoff hat trick, assisted by Bruun and Junior Evan Williams.

The Barons play in the next round of the playoffs next week, but the time, location, and the team they play are still to be determined.
