Barons Ice Hockey took down Sherwood High School on Senior Night last Friday, Jan. 19, at Rockville Ice Arena.

B-CC started strong with an unassisted goal from Senior Aleksandr Talty. Sherwood quickly equalized to tie the game at one a piece. Senior Sebastian Harrison put the Barons back on top with a goal assisted by Sophomore Peter Lanpher and Senior Matthew Duffy. Talty added to B-CC’s lead with his second goal of the game assisted by Duffy and Senior Collin Eccles. Eccles then scored a goal of his own, assisted by Sophomore Benjamin Lyons. Sherwood then answered back with two straight goals of their own. The first period ended with B-CC leading 4-3. 

Sherwood tied the game early in the second period, bringing the score to 4-4. Senior John Bruun scored to put the Barons back on top, assisted by Eccles. Towards the end of the period, Talty scored his third goal of the game, earning him a hat trick, assisted by Duffy and Junior Evan Williams. Sherwood fought back with another goal of their own with only one minute remaining in the period. The second period ended with B-CC leading 6-5.

Sherwood rode the momentum from the end of the second period to start the third period with another goal to tie the game. The Barons quickly responded with an unassisted goal scored by Duffy to put them back on top. Bruun added to B-CC’s lead with his second goal of the game, assisted by Eccles. Sherwood then scored another goal of their own before the third period ended with B-CC winning by a score of 8-7.

When asked about scoring a hat trick on Senior Night, Senior Aleksandr Talty said, “I’m the best in the business at hockey.”

B-CC hockey plays next on Feb. 9, with the location not yet determined.
