The B-CC wrestling team continued their season after the new year with an important home match against Winston Churchill on January 3rd, an away match against Magruder on the 10th, and a tournament known as the Patriot Classic on the 5th and 6th.

After a hard fought few hours, the Barons managed to pull out a big win by a score of 45-20, a first loss for Churchill. B-CC managed five pins, those coming from senior Ronen Israel, senior Luke Smith, senior Seth Weaver, junior Nizhoni Deschene, and freshman Kanik Deschene, who managed to do it in only 32 seconds. “It feels good to beat a team like Churchill who we haven’t beaten in years, as well as knowing I contributed to that statement win,” commented Israel.

Over the weekend, the Barons went to Northern High School in Owings, Maryland to play the Patriot Classic. Overall, it ended up a pretty good performance, with two team members, senior Seth Weaver and junior Nizhoni Deschene finishing first in their respective weight classes, while junior Ethan Makle and freshman Kanik Deschene each receiving second in theirs. This eventually ended up in a 3rd place overall finish for the Barons.  “Our team is feeling very confident about the rest of the season. We are determined to maintain our momentum and continue achieving positive results,” said Makle.

On Wednesday, January 10th, B-CC traveled to Magruder and pulled off another dual meet win, with a final score of 49-23. The Barons managed four pins, with Weaver, junior Ben Carter, senior Adin Eisler, and junior Dajourn Smith each adding to their tallies on the season. “We need to continue on the same path we are currently on, keep rolling with the momentum,” commented Eisler. Next, B-CC will travel north to Archbishop Spalding High School to participate in the Cavalier duals.
