The Bethesda Chevy Chase Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse team prepares for an exciting upcoming playoff run. After a successful regular season with a 9-3 record and being ranked second in the division, the Lady Barons are ready to dominate in playoff season.
Julia Reitz, a current Sophomore on the varsity girls lacrosse team, is reaching the end of her second year on varsity. Reitz is looking forward to the playoff season ahead, given the significant improvements the team has shown. She hopes to showcase the time and dedication the team puts into achieving success to the school and the county. “I think the biggest challenge for the team will be to stay consistent with how we play throughout each game, especially since we’re going to be playing better teams; we need to make sure we play our best for the entire game,” Reitz explains.
Varsity senior goalkeeper Lindsay Solomon expresses her feelings about the upcoming playoff run as “excited but nervous.” As a goalkeeper, she sees the field from a different perspective than field players, giving her an advantage and a deep understanding of how the game works. When asked about the team’s biggest strength, Solomon responds, saying, “Our versatility. We have some star players, but every win we’ve had has been a team effort. We have multiple goal scorers and multiple people causing turnovers on Defense.” Solomon has high hopes for her and the team’s success when playing Quince Orchard. Although their last game was won by only one goal, the team held a film review session to prepare for the upcoming matchup.
Reitz and Solomon both identify their favorite memory as being team bonding. Reitz enjoys making new nicknames for teammates, and Solomon looks forward to lunches with her “little sisters.”
The Lady Barons face Quince Orchard, Friday, May 8th, 7:30 pm at Guckeyson Stadium. In the regular season game against them, tensions were high, but the ladies secured the win and hope that success carries over into their upcoming game.
