Dear Barons,

Are you staying in town for winter break? Here are the top 5 ways to make your staycation as fun and relaxing as possible.

  1. Baking: It’s a classic for a reason! The best way to spice up your winter break is to find a delicious and festive recipe for your favorite holiday treat. You don’t need to be an experienced baker to try this. It could be as easy as finding a fun way to decorate a sugar cookie. But if you’re looking for more of a challenge, try making Linzer Tarts, two cookies with a jam filling in between. Regardless of taste or skill, there is a recipe out there waiting for you.
  2. Movie Night: The great thing about a movie night is that there is something for everyone. Get comfortable in front of your TV, and celebrate the holiday with a movie marathon with classics like Elf, and Home Alone, but if that isn’t for you, there are also some great new movies in theaters. The prequel to the Hunger Games trilogy The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is a great option for any dystopian movie fans.
  3. Ice Skating: There are lots choices when it comes to ice skating in DC. The National Gallery of Art is outdoors, surrounded by trees, lights, and interesting sculptures. Or, head down to the waterfront and skate while looking out on the Potomac River on the Washington Harbour Ice Rink. Whichever you choose, bundle up and stay warm!
  4. Try Something New: What better time to try out all the fun and exciting things you’ve been wanting to do? Whether it’s exploring the arts of photography, music, poetry, trying a new instrument, or cooking new foods, trying something new is bound to up your serotonin.
  5. Map Out Goals For the New Year: This is a great way to give yourself motivation to change those things that you have putting off or procrastinating on in 2023. Writing down your ambitions will hold you accountable and perhaps even give you more motivation to achieve your goals, whether it’s something small like going to bed earlier or making the B-CC basketball team next year.

Happy Holidays!

Xoxoxo,

The Tattler
