On Thursday, Oct. 19, B-CC football picked up a big win against crosstown rivals Whitman in a 42-7 beatdown of the Vikings.

The Walt Whitman Vikings entered the game riding a 4-3 record, which included their first win since 2019.  This Vikings team seemed poised to surpass the historically one-sided rivalry they had with B-CC. Barons prepared for a close match.  Initially, the Vikings held up to expectations, when they took a 7-0 lead off of a circus-like catch from senior receiver, Laird Ostien. However, following that touchdown, the expectation of a tough battle faded. The Barons took over with touchdowns.  Senior Nelson Smith had two rushing touchdowns, and fellow Senior Carson Griffey tacked on two rushing touchdowns, along with a passing touchdown to Senior Khari Rodgers. Junior Andre Elkani had a rushing touchdown of his own.

The Baron’s defense locked down following Whitman’s single score drive, holding the Vikings to zero additional points. 18 Barons recorded tackles with Junior John Dale leading the pack with 9 total tackles.

Rodgers said, “Whitman had a winning record going into the game, and it was their Senior Night. We came in with confidence and executed a great game plan made by the coaches and ran away with the W (win). I would say this was our first real statement win of the season.”

The Barons look to lock up the two-seed in the 4A North Region in their final game of the regular season.  They also seek to make it four straight as they take on the Paint Branch Panthers on Friday at 6:30 p.m.  Show up in neon to support your Barons.
