Poms’ Wizards Performance: Dancers Left Nothing on the Floor

For the second year in a row, B-CC’s Poms team performed at the Washington Wizards vs. Chicago Bulls game at the Capital One Arena on Wednesday, January 11.

Audrey Ohrenstien, a B-CC junior on Poms, shared, “It was really fun, yet it was also super scary because there were a lot of people in the crowd.” However, she felt less nervous when she saw her friends and the familiar Barons in the stands.

Eva Starr, a B-CC sophomore on Poms, commented, “Being able to perform at the Capital One Arena was such an amazing experience, and I feel so fortunate to have had that opportunity.”

In retrospect, they were both grateful to experience this special memory with the team, but Darci Rochkind, a B-CC junior on Poms, shared that Poms also faced challenges during their performance: “Overall, it was a tough performance because it wasn’t our own gym and crowd that we are used to performing in front of. The court doesn’t have as many lines as MCPS gyms, which made spacing formations challenging.”

She still found a silver lining and stated, “We are used to performing to a crowd ranging from a few hundred to 2,000 people, but we were dancing in front of over 11,000 fans at the game.” For Darci, this has been a large confidence booster as she continues to compete in more Poms competitions.

The season continues for Poms, but it doesn’t seem like their performance at the Wizards game will be forgotten anytime soon.
