Two pieces of antisemitic graffiti were found in Bethesda on November 14, which marks the second time in the past three months.
The first piece of graffiti was found on a brick wall at the intersection of Tuckerman Lane and Old Georgetown Road where a black swastika was spray painted with the words “AMERICA AWAK” on both sides of the symbol.
The second piece of graffiti was found on the Bethesda Trolley Trail in Wildwood Manor, North Bethesda where a red swastika was spray painted on a fence with the numbers “131” and “1488” surrounding the symbol. The number “131” is widely known as the angel’s number, symbolizing that G-d will always protect you in everything you do, and the number “1488” is widely used by white supremacists to say “We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children,” according to the Anti Defamation League.
Additionally, at the Trolley Trail, three red spray painted images of someone being hanged were found on the same fence with the words “NO MERCY FOR THE JEWS” written next to them.
This is deeply troubling and the Tattler is currently conducting in-depth reporting on rising antisemitism in the area.
