The Barons take on Walt Whitman High School in a big rivalry matchup between two great teams tonight, January 12th. Whitman comes into the matchup with an 8-3 record after losing their last game to Thomas Wootton High School and B-CC comes into the matchup 7-2 coming off a narrow win against Winston Churchill High School.

A rivalry brings out strong emotions in players. Junior Simon Ndikumana commented, “I feel excited and fearless.” When asked exactly how fearless he was feeling, he continued, “If you see me in a fight with a bear, pray for the bear.”

Against Churchill High School, on January 8th, the Barons took a huge lead in the first quarter and stifled a comeback to go into halftime with a 37-33. In a tight second half, the boys held on to win 71-68. Senior Captain Nate Bromberger led all scorers with 19 points. Junior Simon Ndikumana and senior Adam Strong-Jacobson both recorded a double-double in points and rebounds.

Last Friday, January 5th, the boys traveled to Wootton and took on the high-flying Patriots. Wootton came to play and after a close first half, they pulled away in the third and fourth, including a third-quarter halfcourt buzzer-beater by Wootton to extend the lead. They never looked back, beating B-CC 59-47.

Come support the boys tonight at home at 5:30 drenched in school spirit to cheer on your Barons basketball team as they go up against one of their biggest rivals.
