B-CC Tennis: Swinging Hard to End the Season

Andrew Doerr, Staff

This past week, Bethesda Chevy Chase Tennis team players competed in the state championship playoffs.

During states, in 2 singles, Nathaniel Schrader, who had a strong season, lost in the first round to Churchill. In 3 Singles, Evan Winik fell to Walter Johnson during the first round. In 2 Doubles, Jonah Peters and Luis Hormazobal, two of the most consistent players all season long, won in the first round but lost in the second.

The girl’s team had an outstanding season. Two of their top performers were Skye Khademi and Ivy McConarty. Both of the players were teammates together for a doubles event and advanced to the second round after falling short in the playoffs.

After facing adversity, the season was a big success for both the Girls’ and Boys’ teams. Junior Gus Fisher says, “This year was a big learning curve for us new guys. I expect a better season in terms of wins, and I feel with our strong underclass, we can build on this season for next year.”
