On November 8th, a woman’s body was recovered from a pond in Redgate Park in Rockville. The Montgomery County Police Department and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the scene around 11 am after a call came in about the dead body.
Pete Piringer, the spokesperson for the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, announced more details about the incident on his Twitter account, stating that an “(inland) water rescue” recovered the body. The police do not know what happened, but an autopsy and investigation are underway. Despite the recovery of the body, the police do not believe there is an immediate threat to the public. B-CC senior Sydney Allen felt otherwise.
“The violence was so close to a community that I know and love,” expressed Allen. She also feels disappointed that violence toward women still prevails in our society. Junior Kate Campbell agreed with Allen, stating “it’s scary to think that things as horrible as that happen where I live.”
