On Wednesday, December 17, B-CC clashed with Blair in an away game and suffered a tough 58-57 loss, making their record 1-3 on the season. Khalil Muhammad hit three big 3-pointers, and Jack Allen, who leads the county in average rebounds, picked up 11 more against Blair. The Barons were up by 6 at the end of the first half and benefited from good ball movement throughout the game. Unfortunately, it was not enough to bring home a win as they lost on a game-winner at the end.

Senior Chris Kingsbury said, “Khalil came off the bench and had 16 points [and] Michael Bean also came off the bench and had two or three steals [and brought] a huge energy boost to the team.” The help off the bench shows a very well-rounded team and good depth, which supports future games this season.

Offensively, the Barons had great ball movement all game and evidently played as a team. Kingsbury said, “70% of [their points] came off assists [and] most of [their] possessions had more than five passes, which is what [they’re] striving for.” Good ball movement and smart passing led to more points and improved team play for the Barons, which are both fundamental later in the season.

B-CC had a dynamic defense throughout the game, both helping out with offensive screens from Blair and accomplishing big steals. But, costly turnovers throughout the game really hurt the team and [are] something that the Barons hope to improve upon. As Senior Chris Kingsbury said, “Turnovers [are] a big problem, but [they’re] lowering each game,” he added, “[They hope] to get it under 10 by after the break.”

Today they play at home against Wootton, where they hope to get back on track and garner a big win against a team whose 0-6 in their first six games. Senior Chris Kingsbury concluded by saying that the Barons need to “get more comfortable with the ball and execute back at [home].”
