B-CC’s Student Government Association (SGA) leaders for the upcoming year have officially been chosen. With strong, unique campaigns from each student, B-CC’s newly elected officers have demonstrated serious initiative in making an impact within the school.
Specifically, junior Jonah Mishalove speaks on his goals and aspirations as the newly elected schoolwide president. While this isn’t Mishalove’s first year on SGA, he still has plenty of ideas in store for his upcoming role. “As school president, I’m looking to work with the class SGA to raise money for prom, organize some cool pep rallies, do a lot of fun stuff for centennial, as well as revamp the courtyards and just continue to make B-CC a better place.” With a strong focus on improving school spirit, Mishalove expects serious progress for the upcoming year.
As for the schoolwide vice president position, sophomore Abena Amankwah-Ayeh was elected. Amankwah-Ayeh claims representation was her driving motivator to pursue student government. “I decided to run because I believe we need more representation, especially women of color and just minority representation in general.” Amankwah-Ayeh’s campaign strengths also include setting realistic goals that can soon be enacted into real change.
Straying from our schoolwide leaders, sophomore Sofia Reeves was elected as Class of 2028 Treasurer. Reeves is a sophomore who is thoroughly connected to B-CC, especially through lacrosse. She reflects on the fact that this connection may have helped build her a strong campaign. Now that she is elected, she claims her main improvement will be to keep classmates informed about the budgeting process at B-CC. “I want to make sure all class of 2028 students are informed and aware of how our money is being budgeted and used.”
With an impressive group of leaders selected for SGA next year, students can expect creative ideas and significant improvements in schoolwide representation and spirit.
