The Rising Star Teacher Award provides recognition for teachers who have made a meaningful impact while in their first 5 years of teaching. Specifically, this award is for teachers who have shown passion in their students’ success, creatively engaged their students in learning, and fostered positive relationships among the community. At B-CC, Ms.Tajaddini was nominated for this honor.
Before starting her teaching career, Ms. Tajaddini spent several years working in nonprofits and social justice organizations. This was where she was able to discover her specific passion. “I realized that the part of my work that brought me the greatest sense of purpose and fulfillment was mentoring teenagers.”
Once entering the field of education, Ms. Tajaddini knew she wanted to center her classroom around community. “I believe that learning happens best when students feel a sense of belonging and know that their voices matter.” Ms. Tajaddini emphasizes the importance of collaboration, claiming her goal is for her students to feel safe, valued, and comfortable in a classroom.
When asked about being nominated for the Rising Star Award, she expressed her deep gratitude. “It means a lot to feel recognized by colleagues who understand the dedication and care that goes into supporting our students each day.” Her work is not limited to inside the classroom, Ms. Tajaddini spends much of her time doing behind the scenes work as well. Her dedication has clearly paid off as she has successfully created a supporting and productive environment for her students.
For Ms. Tajaddini, the most rewarding part of her teaching experience is the relationships she’s able to build with her students. She feels honored to be a part of her students’ journeys, especially celebrating their achievements, whether big or small. ”It’s something I never take for granted when students trust you enough to share their ideas, their challenges, and what is going on in their lives.”
