The 2026 edition of The BRIT Awards, which took place on February 28, once again delivered a night full of major wins, unforgettable performances, and some unexpected moments. From Olivia Dean dominating the awards with her breakout album “The Art of Loving” to dramatic stage performances and emotional tributes to music legends, the ceremony highlighted both the biggest names in music today and the artists who shaped the industry before them.
The biggest winner of the night was Olivia Dean, who won in almost every category she was nominated for, including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Artist, and Best Pop Album. These awards were all for her record “The Art of Loving,” which launched her into fame in 2025. She also performed her hit song “Man I Need,” which received the Song of the Year award.
Another iconic moment from the night was Sombr’s stage performance. Midway through his performance of “Undressed,” he was interrupted by someone jumping on stage wearing a shirt that read “Sombr is a homewrecker,” before being tackled by security. Everyone in the crowd seemed to be in shock until a few seconds later when fireworks went off, a curtain fell, and both Sombr and a band appeared to perform the next song in the set. It was later confirmed by a member of his team to be a PR stunt.
Many other star performances also took place, such as Rosalia, Raye, Dua Lipa–who descended from a disco ball–Harry Styles performing from his newest album “Kiss All The Time, Disco Occasionally,” and Alex Warren, who redeemed himself from his performance at the Grammys with his song “Ordinary.”
Tributes were also a theme at the BRITs, with both Ozzy Osbourne and Amy Winehouse receiving honors. Robbie Williams played his famous track “No More Tears” with some of Osbourne’s old band members. Mark Ronson won the Outstanding Contribution award and dedicated it to Amy Winehouse, who helped launch his career when he helped write her hit single “Back to Black,” and during his performance, he brought out her old band.
Overall, the night celebrated both rising stars and lasting musical legacies. Olivia Dean’s sweep of major categories confirmed her status as one of the most exciting artists in music right now. By blending new talent with moments honoring legendary artists, this year’s BRIT Awards captured the past, present, and future of the music industry in one memorable night.
