The Grammy Awards are the music industry’s most important night. World-renowned artists, producers, and writers have the chance to be nominated to win the most coveted award among musicians: a Grammy. However, this event is not only about receiving a Grammy; it is also a fashion show. Not even a day after the awards ceremony, viewers scramble to share their opinions on celebrities’ red-carpet looks. However, not everyone has such nice things to say.

The internet has its own preferences, and each year, some styles become fan favorites, while others face criticism. Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Dean were some of the most admired outfits this year. Content creators across social media have posted videos showing and reviewing each attendee’s outfits. B-CC junior Anna Harcourt shared, “I saw lots of people on TikTok rate outfits and share their own personal opinion.” According to TikTok creator @katiie.laiine, “Sabrina Carpenter got an 8/10, because the textures and patterns ‘eat.’” Carpenter performed at this year’s Grammys and wore a custom white Valentino dress with an intricate pattern. Harcourt added, “I loved Olivia Dean’s outfit because it was very natural and true to herself. She looked very beautiful.” Best New Artist nominee, Oliva Dean, wore a black-and-white Chanel gown with Cartier jewelry. Fans said her natural makeup and simple gown gave a great first impression to the music industry.

However, in hopes of being memorable and iconic, some celebrities’ unique attire did not receive a positive reaction fromfans. For example, Singer Miley Cyrus wore a custom Celine Black leather jacket, black pants, and original accessories: a brooch with her initials, large sunglasses, and a messy hairstyle. In response to this distinct look, @katiie.laiine remarked, “Why is she hosting the 50th annual Hunger Games? The brooch is throwing me off.”

Whether an artist was nominated, won an award, or not, the Grammys are a great opportunity for people to expand their personas and fan bases through stylized fashion.
