The annual pink spirit game for girls’ field hockey works hard to raise awareness for women’s breast cancer. Through fundraising, the girls were able to raise money to donate to the National Breast Cancer Organization. To show their spirit, all members wore pink throughout the day to demonstrate their support for the organization, as well as their excitement for the big home game.
This year, the barons played against Blake High School for the spirit game, with big hopes for another win. As expected, the girls took home an impressive victory, with the score being 6-0. Their pink socks and pink ribbon kept the spirit high, bringing the energy to another level. The barons were very focused and had a serious demeanor throughout the game, but also shared some humorous moments on the field. Specifically, “Amelia Morton playing goalie, the second half…and Haley Jenkins crashed into other players on Blake’s field hockey team,” Hatzfeld says. The girls do a phenomenal job of balancing working hard together while also always having a good time on the field. Their positive attitudes always bring the vibes up and allow them to persevere to success.
Regarding breast cancer awareness fundraising, the parents, coaches, and girls all helped organize a bake sale to raise money. Not only did they create a fundraiser, but the girls chose a spirit day dedicated to showing support. “For Wednesday…it was pink out…“We all dress up and go all out for spirit days, and we take photos,” Hatzfeld says. The girls’ field hockey team never disappoints when playing in challenging games, and they also never fail to wear their hearts on their sleeves, actively supporting important causes.
