As the end of the fall sports season approaches, seniors wait as they anticipate senior night. Senior night is typically scheduled for one of the last regular-season home games, and it’s a game to dedicate love and support to seniors. Traditions change from sports team, but they share the same message: supporting our seniors.
Addison Foist is a Senior on the B-CC girls varsity soccer team who has been playing with the Barons for 3 years. On October 14, 2025, the Barons celebrated their senior night, and Foist was one of the eight players to be highlighted. One tradition that Girls’ varsity soccer and field hockey share is the decorating of t-shirts. “ The team makes it really special by making t-shirts and posters to really make the seniors feel honored.” Another tradition for senior night is allowing all the seniors to play in the game as much as possible. Foist said, “ A highlight for [her] was all the seniors on the field at once, which was at the beginning and end of the game.” Foist is sad to leave the Barons and is gonna miss the atmosphere of the team the most.
The girls’ field hockey team has had such a successful season, thanks to all the members of the team. But it’s important to put a spotlight on the older girls who have now dedicated years of hard work to this team. Through leadership and perseverance, the seniors have undeniably made great contributions, leading the girls to many wins and creating memories.
Senior Sarah Tollison is finishing out her 4th season playing for the girls’ field hockey team. This year, senior night was celebrated on October 13th, honoring the 5 seniors on the team through special rituals. Both the soccer and field hockey teams bring their families to the field. “We have a ceremony where all the seniors walk through a stick arch with their families,” Tollison says. Support is also shown from the younger teammates, giving the seniors gifts, posters, and thoughtful notes. “…all the seniors did ‘take them down’ chant together, it’s one of my favorite traditions, so it was really fun to lead it with the other seniors,” Tollison said was a specific field hockey tradition. A highlight was definitely the celebrations with other seniors, especially when the team scored. Tollison is happy with the memories she created, but will miss seeing her teammates every day and driving with them to away games.
