For the second consecutive year, the Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School Cross Country teams have asserted their dominance on the track, going undefeated in all divisional matchups. Both the girls’ and boys’ squads have displayed remarkable resilience, teamwork, and sheer athleticism, sweeping the season and leaving their rivals in the dust.
Throughout the season, the barons have not just secured victories, but have done so by significant margins. Routinely outpacing their competition, both teams have consistently landed their top runners in the leading positions, often filling the top five finishing spots. This dominance is a testament to the teams’ rigorous training schedules, unwavering commitment, and the supportive atmosphere fostered by coaches and teammates alike.
The most recent victory came in a dual meet against Winston Churchill, where the boys won with almost no contest through having finishers in spots 2-7 and standout performances from Michael Habib, who ran a 16:45.52, and Tobin Connelly, who put up a 17:03.14. The girls’ team also won their race by a convincing margin, placing runners in first and second, as well as third and fourth.
With their undefeated record fueling their confidence, the Barons are now setting their sights on the upcoming County Championship, next Saturday. The anticipation surrounding the event is high, as both the boys’ and girls’ teams are eager to translate their divisional dominance onto the county stage. If their season’s form is any indication, the Barons are sure not just to compete, but to make a commanding statement with another convincing win.
