On October 3rd, B-CC Football took on Paint Branch in Burtonsville. Unfortunately, the Barons struggled to put points on the board, ending the game with 0 points for the second time this season. Paint Branch won the game by a score of 18-0.
The Barons were able to limit the Panthers’ offense to just 6 points in the first half, but the second half was a different story. B-CC saw a few of their key players go down with injury, and Paint Branch was able to take advantage of that, adding 12 more points during the second half.
Following the loss, Head Coach Matt Schwartzback explains, “It’s only a few plays that [make] the difference in those games, and we came up short, but I was proud of our boys and how they competed.” All it takes is a few mistakes for a game to slip out of reach, and unfortunately, that is what happened Friday night.
Senior Jack Nucci, who played well in the loss, felt that the offense “Could have been a lot better,” but, despite a few costly errors, the defense played well. Nucci also complimented a few of his teammates who had notable performances. “Our corner [back] Jalen Ball got an interception, and [running back] Gabe Eisler…had a couple good runs.”
Hopefully, this positive outlook will carry into this week’s home game, where the Barons will take on the Walter Johnson Wildcats for homecoming. The game will kick off at 6:30 on Friday night.
