The Barons kicked off the season strong, earning a 2-0 record after victories against the Northwest Jaguars and Gaithersburg Trojans.
B-CC opened with a commanding 8-0 win over the Jaguars. Their success continued in the home opener against the Trojans. Gaithersburg fought hard, but the first goal came 17 minutes into the first half from number 3, Amy Maguire, who went on to score two more goals, leading the team offensively. Junior Wren Stout said, “My favorite part of our first game was every time someone scored, we all did a special celebration. This helped the team stay hype for the rest of the game.”
Looking ahead to week two, the Barons face key matchups. On Monday, September 15, they travel to Thomas Wooton High School to face the Patriots. Then, on Wednesday, September 17, B-CC hosts Churchill in the first rivalry game of the season. Last year, the Barons fell 1-0 to the Bulldogs, but this year they hope to redeem themselves and secure a win.
These early games are crucial steps toward the Barons’ ultimate goal of winning states. With many more games ahead, the girls are off to a strong start, and hopefully, their winning streak continues into the coming week.
