Located on East-West Highway, Simona Cafe celebrated its grand opening on August 8 and soon became a new lunch spot for B-CC students. Simona is in an extremely accessible and noticeable location. Surrounded by other popular lunch spots, the cafe attracts many students. It specializes in coffee, pastries, sandwiches, and other iconic cafe drinks.
Billie Margulis is a junior at B-CC whose typical cafe order is as follows: “…a coffee or matcha, maybe every other day.” September 8 was her first time trying Simona Cafe at lunch. She expresses her thoughts regarding the menu: “I definitely think Simona Cafe has a wide variety, but my go-to order is probably an iced vanilla matcha.”
The number of options at Simona not only works for the average coffee lover like Margulis, but also for students who are looking for other alternatives. Isaac Osuri is a senior at B-CC who prefers tea over coffee. Osuri states, “My preferred order is a chai latte, but I think Simona has good breakfast options.”
Many coffee shops have steep prices that may be more expensive for the average high school student. With costs on the rise, it is important to find quality spots that have a maintainable price range. Osuri voiced, “I wish it was a bit cheaper, but I think it’s good.” However, Simona has taken notice of all the students who go to the cafe for lunch and has decided to act on their prices. In the near future, they will be giving out cards to students who show their school ID. These cards get you 15% off your Simona purchases.
