The long-standing tradition of showing out for Friday night football games continues to thrive as we enter the 2025-2026 season. At the start of each week, Barons eagerly await word about the upcoming Friday’s theme. Ranging from classics such as Blackout or Blue and Gold to the trendy Camo and Western styles, new and returning B-CC students are always excited to participate in this colorful display of school spirit.
On Friday, September 5, B-CC students packed the stadium with Baron pride at their first game against Winston Churchill High School. For the class of ‘29—and even some in other grades—this was their first chance to join in on the fun and dress up in support of the team. But it’s not only the football team that students come to support; “I love the atmosphere [of the games,] and one of my friends is on Poms, so I love watching her perform,” Junior Amelia Morton shares.
For our B-CC seniors, this is their last season of high school football, which means they have already experienced the thrill of squeezing into the bleachers, dancing to the drumline, and reciting chants like “Who runs the DMV? B-CC! B-CC!” Many 12th-grade Barons are deciding to pump up the energy for their final B-CC games. Senior Maayan Blumberg states, “I’m ready to be more involved in school spirit for my senior year!”
Seniors get a spirit boost with the tradition and arrival of their senior jerseys. On every home-game Friday, the hallways are filled with bright blue hockey jerseys and sleeveless white basketball jerseys adorned with distinct nicknames and a large “26” printed across the back. Following this night, the FNL themes will become increasingly creative and require students to branch out in terms of fashion. Vivid wigs for Neon night, cowboy hats and boots for Western, or snow goggles for Ski… Barons are always sure to go full-out. Blumberg continues, “My favorite FNL team is definitely USA. I just think it’s so fun to see everyone in cowboy hats, and it reminds me of summer [and the] fourth of July.”
After the game has concluded, herds of students make their way to Bethesda Row to indulge in some Yogi Topi frozen yogurt. The line may be long, but the fond post-game memories are always worthwhile. “After [the game] we go out to get ice cream—Yogi Topi, obviously, as long as it’s a home game,” Blumberg adds.
FNL is a great time to showcase your style, hang out with friends, and join in on one of the school’s biggest traditions. Football Fridays bring B-CC students a sense of school pride and community that is unlike any other event. Make sure to pack the Guck this season, and Roll Rons!
