B-CC boys varsity soccer is back! With the start of the season right around the corner, the Barons have put together a team full of talent. Gui Malendez, beloved teacher and current varsity coach, intends to lead his team to victory. In a recent interview, he shared the team’s goals, expectations, and more.
The varsity boys have had an impressive start to the preseason, achieving some notable results. When asked how that affects the team moving forward, Malendez explained, “It certainly gives us a lot of confidence, of course, but there’s always a little bit of a grain of salt because it’s the preseason. It still gives us a good idea of what we need to work on before the season starts.”
He also outlined the expectations for the season: “We want to do great. And by that, I mean go deep into the playoffs. I know the guys, and I can see the depth that we have, and that gives me confidence.”
Finally, Malendez spoke about the team’s mental and physical readiness. “I think we’re good to go. As the season goes on, injuries happen, but we are where we need to be right now.”
With many positive words from Coach Malendez, the Barons are poised to make a strong run this season.
