The 2024-2025 field hockey season had its ups and downs, with both wins and losses. This year, however, Coach Colby and the team are working hard, aiming for a strong and successful season. Junior Julia Pinto said, “I’m excited for all our team bonding activities this season and for our game against Whitman…I’m excited for all our spirit days and overall just to get closer with the team and spend time together.” After last year’s loss against Whitman, the team is determined to make a comeback. Pinto added, “It’s gonna be a tough one, but the team will fight really hard, and it’ll be a fun challenge.”
The girls’ field hockey team got off to a great start this season, defeating Richard Montgomery 7-0. With strong communication and skilled play, they dominated the field and secured a decisive opening win. Junior captain Amelia Morton had a hat trick, scoring three of the seven goals. Senior Ashley Payne said, “We did well spreading the field and taking shots as soon as possible…The highlight of the game was my teammate scoring in the first two minutes, and winning 7-0 compared to last year, which was only 3-0.”
This Wednesday, September 9th, the Lady Barons will play Northwest at their field. If they keep up their strong play, another win could come for the barons.
