For many incoming high school students, the first day of school can feel overwhelming. To facilitate this transition, B-CC hosted a Freshman Transition Day on Monday, August 25, one day before the official start of school. During this full-day orientation, new students had the opportunity to review their schedules, meet their teachers, and learn how to navigate the 253,242-square-foot high school.
Freshman Evie Bean said “[This transition helped me] learn [my] way through school and feel more comfortable getting to classes.” She added, “I’d say getting more student volunteers around the school could make it easier to navigate.” Freshmen were also given a field day at the end of the day to help them connect with their classmates and get comfortable on campus. “The opportunity to meet new people,” said freshman Cora Ayers, was a highlight of the event.
Overall, Freshman Transition Day was very beneficial for incoming students, helping them navigate the school and meet new people. Hopefully, in the future, there will be more assistance available to students to make the transition even smoother!
