Football season is nearly here, and excitement is growing within the B-CC community. The first B-CC football game is just around the corner, and students are eagerly looking forward to it, mainly because it marks the beginning of an exciting season. While students are excited about B-CC’s football games, many are also anticipating the NFL season. The NFL’s weekly games, from Thursday through Monday, are expected to keep viewers glued to their seats in anticipation and excitement.
Varsity football player Jack Djikiage said, “The NFL means a lot to me because football is my first sport, and I love it so much.” Additionally, Djikiage spoke about how his appreciation for the NFL has helped him improve his game. “I’ve learned a lot from watching the NFL, and it helps me apply a lot of things from professional football to my own career,” stated Djikiage.
With the first NFL game of the season so close, fantasy football drafts are also gaining popularity. In fantasy football, friends and family come together to create a league. A draft is held, where participants act as team managers, strategically selecting players to build a competitive roster. The goal is to score more points than your opponent each week, based on the statistics of the players you’ve chosen. For many, fantasy football makes the experience of watching football games even more engaging, testing knowledge, and competing with friends.
Junior, Nikhil Pemmeraju, a proud Barron and football enthusiast, demonstrated how much the football season means to him. “You know, I’m a big Cincinnati Bengals fan. I grew up in Ohio for the first seven years of my life, so it’s been a big part of me and my family.” Later on, when asked about his Fantasy Football experience, Pemmeraju said, “I do have a league with my friends. It’s not a big thing, but we like to do it every year, and it’s fun.”
As the NFL season kickoff nears, our B-CC community is buzzing both on and off the football field, eagerly anticipating the start of fantasy drafts. Students share unique perspectives on what football truly means beyond the game, highlighting how excited B-CC is for the season to begin.
