For seniors continuing on a path to higher education, college deadlines weigh heavily on the mind. With the 2025-26 Common Application cycle now open, many seniors are already deep into the process of seeking out recommendations, finalizing transcripts, and writing their essays.
Some students are currently hyper-focused on early decision applications, while others are waiting for the regular decision process. “I’m definitely stressed out,” said Hedda Rejsjoe, a senior at B-CC. “However, I know that there’s time during the day, we still have two months until the first few deadlines as well.”
The thought process behind each student’s consideration of a school varies from person to person. “Touring campuses was very helpful,” said Rejsjoe. “I love big schools, which was a big factor for me. Also, I don’t like Greek life, so I knew I didn’t want a school where I would have to rely on that. And I didn’t want a catholic school.”
No matter their criteria of choice, the long-lasting college process seems to be less about applications and more about the choices seniors are making: where to live, what to study, and what to pursue.
