Every year on the first day of school, seniors gather on the football field early in the morning to watch the sunrise. Senior Sunrise is a long-standing B-CC tradition that many look forward to.
This year, some seniors woke up as early as 5 a.m. in order to catch the peak sunrise. “Waking up early was tiring but definitely worth it to be with my friends,” said senior Aubrey Green.
Watching the sunrise isn’t just a fun thing to do with friends; it symbolizes the start of the new seniors’ final journey through high school. Green added, “It makes me sad to know that it’s almost over, but I know there are bigger and better things ahead.” As students gathered on the field in their matching shirts or jerseys, happy reunions abounded; seniors took pictures with friends and caught up with people they hadn’t seen over the summer.
Other seniors shared the sentiment: “I was sentimental during Senior Sunrise because it’s becoming more and more real that this chapter of my life is coming to a close,” said Sophie Ecker. “I loved seeing the people I wasn’t able to see over the summer, and it made me a little more excited for the upcoming school year.”
Senior Sunrise at B-CC is more than an annual tradition; it’s a time for seniors to connect and reflect on their time in high school while embracing a new beginning.
