On Tuesday, May 6, B-CC’s outdoor track and field team competed at the MCPS Outdoor County Championships held at Seneca Valley High School. The event spanned two days, from May 6 to May 7, with numerous teams in attendance. Each school was allowed one entry per event, with a second permitted for those meeting qualification standards.
The meet opened with the women’s 4×800-meter relay, where the Barons secured second place behind Montgomery Blair High School. Ani Bailin, Alexia Ladstaetter, Amelia Menefee, and Nya Stoian delivered an outstanding performance, finishing with a time of 9:40.60.
The men’s 4×800-meter relay team also performed well. Cadan Felten, Daniel Skendaj, Donovan Hicks, and Tobin Connelly finished in 8th place with a time of 8:16.55.
In the women’s 800-meter run, senior Amelia Menefee placed 6th, clocking in at 2:21.00.
Bailin returned to the track for the women’s 1600-meter and delivered a standout performance. She placed 3rd with a time of 5:02.93.
In the men’s 4×200-meter relay, juniors Keith Kibisu and Adam Kessler teamed up with freshmen Ryan Wieder and Ezekiel Amakye. The team finished 16th with a time of 1:34.04.
B-CC also saw success in field events. In the women’s triple jump, senior Jaylin Harried leapt 37 feet, 11.25 inches (11.56 meters), earning 2nd place behind an athlete from Damascus.
In the men’s long jump, sophomore Aiah Mbayo showcased his athleticism with a jump of 22 feet, 3.75 inches (6.80 meters).
Following this strong showing at the county championship, the Barons will advance to the MPSSAA 4A South Region Championship, scheduled for May 15 at Dr. Henry A. Wise High School.
