On Wednesday, May 7, the B-CC girls lacrosse team kicked off their 2025 playoff run with a statement win over rival Churchill, defeating them on home turf at the Guck. The Barons controlled the game from the opening whistle, securing a commanding victory and advancing to the next round.
Heading into the matchup, B-CC carried momentum from their last meeting with Churchill — a tight 7–6 win at Churchill. This time, with the baseball team cheering up above from the baseball field, the Barons knew what was at stake and came out on all ends firing.
Sophomores Phoebe Kramer and Juliet Kelliher got the scoring started early in the first quarter, using timely ball movement and quick transitions to break through Churchill’s defense. Despite a couple of goals from Churchill, the barons’ seniors stepped up. Senior McKenna Harper buried a key goal just before the end of the first quarter to maintain B-CC’s edge.
With B-CC leading 5–4 late in the second quarter, freshman Julia Reitz made her presence felt. In a standout performance, Reitz sliced through the Churchill defense to notch two quick goals, electrifying the home crowd and giving the Barons a 7–4 lead heading into halftime.
The second half mirrored the first, with B-CC continuing to press offensively and control the pace. Churchill managed one more goal, but it wasn’t enough. The Barons answered with five more of their own, shutting the door and sending the Dawgs home packing with a 10-5 win.
The Barons will face Quince Orchard at 5:30 p.m. on Friday as they continue their playoff push.
