On Tuesday, April 8, B-CC’s track and field team dominated in their meet against Wooton.
In the women’s and men’s 100-meter dash, Baron runners excelled. Freshman Leila Harleston secured first place with a time of 13.82 seconds, and just behind her came sophomore Maika Lieber, who recorded a time of 14.17 seconds. Senior Tytan Hinkson showed out for the Barons, clocking in at 11.92 seconds, securing second place.
In the 400-meter race, Hinkson demonstrated exceptional speed and explosiveness, taking first place with a time of 52.91 seconds. Junior Lorenzo Loaiza finished second, clocking in at 54.50 seconds. Sophomore Aiah Mbayo placed fifth, recording a time of one minute and 5.36 seconds.
In the men’s 800-meter dash, Baron athletes secured the top two spots on the board. Junior Tobin Connelly came in first with a time of two minutes and 07.45 seconds, and just .15 seconds behind him came senior Cherian Mampilly.
In the women’s 1600-meter race, the Barons dominated the leaderboard, securing the top nine spots. Sophomore Nya Stoian secured first place and clocked in with five minutes and 24.19 seconds. Senior Ani Bailin was right behind her in second, recording a time of five minutes and 26.85 seconds. Sophomore Ava Summerfield placed third, clocking in at five minutes and 47.40 seconds.
Connelly again earned himself first place, this time in the 1600-meter race with a time of four minutes and 48.37 seconds.
In the women’s 3200-meter race, the Barons once again topped the leaderboard, with B-CC runners taking the top six spots. The standout performance came from Bailin who won the race with a time of 11 minutes and .40.35 seconds. Junior Aubrey Green secured second place, while fellow junior Alexia Ladstaetter finished in third.
The men’s team also performed exceptionally well. Junior Donovan Hicks achieved an impressive time of 10 minutes and 11.18 seconds, securing first place, while another junior, Daniel Skendaj, finished with a time of 10 minutes and 18.10 seconds, earning third place.
The Barons will have their next meet tomorrow, Saturday, April 12, when they will attend the Woodward track and field relays.
