While Montgomery County is firmly located within Maryland, many B-CC students live near and frequently spend time in Washington, D.C. However, no two students are alike when it comes to where they choose to go. To learn more, we conducted a survey to find the most visited areas of D.C.
Georgetown was by far the most popular choice, receiving 60% of the vote. In second place was Dupont Circle, with 30%, followed by Downtown D.C. with 10%. Capitol Hill, Chinatown, The Wharf, and Columbia Heights did not receive any votes.
We also spoke to students around the school to gain a deeper understanding of their connection to D.C. B-CC junior Sadie Meisner shared that she visits D.C. daily for rowing practice at the Thompson Athletic Center at Georgetown University. Outside of practice, she enjoys visiting M Street for shopping and dining. Freshman Andrew Osiri said he visits D.C. around three times a week. “Most of the time when I go, we just go into Rock Creek because I live so close to it. When we go into the city, we usually go downtown to the mall area, or just go watch the Capitals games at Capital One Arena,” he explained.
For those looking to spend time in D.C. in the coming weeks, we recommend checking out the Flower Mart at the National Cathedral (May 2–3), the Smithsonian Museum of African Art’s Mimouna Festival (May 2), and the Running of the Chihuahuas at The Wharf (May 3).
