On Wednesday, April 23rd, B-CC participated in the annual Take Your Child to Work Day! Typically held on the fourth Thursday of April, parents across the country bring their kids between the ages of 6 to 18 into work for a glimpse of their everyday jobs.
The initiative began in 1993 as Take Your Daughter to Work Day, launched by the Ms. Foundation for Women, to inspire young girls to explore their future careers. By 2003, it was renamed and expanded to include boys, promoting equal access and exposure for all children. The day allows parents to show their children first-hand experiences of various careers and work environments, inspire kids, and broaden their career perspectives.
Across the country, companies and schools opened their doors to the next generation of professionals, offering guided tours, interactive activities, and hands-on experiences. Some teachers at B-CC even brought their children to school with them!
Biology teacher, Mr. Dutton, brought his six-year-old son, Simon, to school. “I was a little worried that he wasn’t gonna have fun, but he really did. I told him he was going to teach five classes, but then he got to teach homeroom and, during my off period, got to teach Ms. Mey’s class. So he was excited to keep teaching over and over again.”
