The Baron’s outdoor track and field season began in spectacular fashion as the Barons went up against their rival, Walter Johnson, on Tuesday, March 25, at B-CC.
In the 100-meter event, both the men’s and women’s teams excelled. Senior Fiona Narrod-Malcolm exhibited remarkable speed and explosiveness, recording a time of 13.48 seconds and finishing in second place. The race was won by a WJ runner, who finished with a time of 12.91 seconds.
In the men’s 100-meter race, senior Tytan Hinkson was locked in and fired up, clocking in with a time of 11.28 seconds, securing second place. Ahead of Hinkson was a WJ runner who recorded a time of 11.11 seconds. In third place was B-CC junior Lorenzo Loaiza, who clocked in with a time of 11.47 seconds.
In the men’s high jump, triple jump, and 110-meter hurdles, senior Baron track star De’Tavious Graves claimed first place in all three events. He has now broken the B-CC record in the outdoor high jump event, which he had previously tied. Graves has now set three school records for outdoor track: the triple jump, long jump, and high jump.
In the women’s 1600-meter run, junior Alexia Ladstaetter clocked in with a time of five minutes and 35.64 seconds, earning her second place. Behind her were Baron runners, junior Lilah Rich in third, and freshman Mariana Song in fourth.
In the men’s 1600-meter run, junior Michael Habib finished in first place with a time of four minutes and 44.71 seconds. Right behind him were Baron runners, junior Tobin Connelly in second, and junior Donovan Hicks in third.
The next outdoor track and field meet will be on Saturday, March 29, when the Barons will face Quince Orchard in the Quince Orchard Cougar Relays. This is a competitive invitational meet that Quince Orchard hosts every year to kick off the outdoor season.
