On Tuesday, February 18, the B-CC Barons girls’ basketball team celebrated Senior Night with a decisive 59–45 victory over rival Walt Whitman Vikings. The evening was dedicated to honoring four key senior players: Frances Doyle, Elisha Robinson, Sasha Barr, and Jaylin Harried, whose leadership and play have been the key to the Baron’s success.
From the opening tip-off, the Barons showcased their dominance. Doyle led the charge, contributing a game-high 16 points. Her shooting and paint dominance set the tone early, allowing B-CC to establish a commanding 13–4 lead by the end of the first quarter.
Guard Sasha Barr was a force on both ends of the court, adding 14 points to the scoreboard. Her defensive efforts resulted in several key steals, transitioning into fast-break opportunities that Whitman struggled to contain.
Both Robinson and Harried kept the Viking’s offense under control all game. The seniors shut down shots from beyond the arc and combined for multiple steals. Their physical presence made it difficult for the Vikings to find any offensive rhythm inside.
The Barons’ balanced team play was evident, with key ball movement and second-chance points keeping Whitman’s defense on their heels. As the game progressed, B-CC maintained their lead, giving Whitman no signs of hope.
This victory not only honored the seniors, but also completed a regular season sweep against their cross-town rivals, as the Barons previously beat them 47–44 on January 14. B-CC boasts an impressive 18–2 overall record on the regular season.
Looking ahead, the Barons are set to face their formidable rivals, the Clarksburg Coyotes, in the upcoming County Championship tomorrow, Wednesday, February 24. This matchup carries significant weight and history. This season, Clarksburg handed B-CC their first of only two losses on the season with a 60–54 defeat on January 24. In last years County Championship, the Barons overcame a 17-point deficit to clinch a 59–54 victory but later fell to Clarksburg in the State Championship.
