The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons varsity girls’ basketball team faced a tough stretch of games from January 27 to February 4, playing four games in eight days. Despite a strong start, the Barons ended the week with a tough loss to Walter Johnson.
The action began on January 27, when B-CC took down Quince Orchard at home. The Barons controlled the pace from the start, using tight defense and fast-break opportunities to secure a dominant 60-23 win. Senior Captain Frances Doyle led the offensive charge with 24 points, while Seniors Sasha Barr and Elisha Robinson also played key roles in the victory.
Two days later, B-CC carried that momentum into a commanding 58-31 victory over Paint Branch. Once again, the team’s defense made the difference, forcing turnovers that turned into easy transition points. The Barons’ balanced scoring attack showcased the team’s depth, with contributions coming from multiple players on both ends of the floor.
On January 31, the Barons faced Blair in a Friday night matchup and walked away with another win, 56-36. B-CC stayed aggressive on offense, with senior Sasha Barr scoring 18 points while leading the charge. Doyle and Jaylin Harried added 12 points each, with key contributions in the paint.
But the week ended on a tough note as B-CC fell 59-54 to Walter Johnson on February 4. Despite a standout shooting performance from sophomore Chelsey Barr, the Barons couldn’t overcome WJ’s late-game execution.
Now sitting at 14-2 in the county, B-CC looks to bounce back when they travel to Wootton on February 10. With the playoffs nearing and the regular season coming to a close, the Barons are focused on ending the season on a high note.
