And the Grammy winner is … still to be determined. With the nominations for the upcoming 2025 Grammy Awards being announced, fans and critics alike have begun their predictions. The categories pose intense competition between beloved artists, especially for the Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Vocal Album. Let’s see which artists Barons think will take home the golden gramophone!
Notable artists such as Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Beyoncé, and Chappell Roan dominate the nominations for many categories. Swift’s large number of nominations for her album “The Tortured Poets Department” took many by surprise, because fans didn’t believe this album was one of her best. On the other hand, Ariana Grande lacked nominations for her album “Eternal Sunshine.” Many of her supporters believe the album was “robbed” of nominations, despite her high-profile year. “I was surprised Ariana wasn’t nominated much especially because of the Wicked movie coming out — she has been very prevalent in pop culture recently,” B-CC junior Megan McCaragher said. This year’s Grammy list has already sparked much debate and excitement among fans.
One of the most heated categories for the 2025 Grammys is Album of the Year, which left Barons divided on who deserves the win. Junior Wyatt Stark said, “I want ‘Cowboy Carter’ to win, but I think it could go to ‘Brat’ because of its cultural impact this year.” McCaragher had a different take. She said, “I think Billie Eilish is most likely to win for “Hit Me Hard and Soft.” Her album was great and she always puts music together well, both lyrically and musically.” It is clear that there is no shortage of talent this year, making the race for best album even more unpredictable.
Another category creating buzz is Best New Artist, where Chappell Roan is a strong front-runner. “Chappell Roan should win the Grammy for Best New Artist because of her self-expression and uprising stardom,” said junior Madelyn Zaccari. “She has inspired many people, including other artists, to open up about self-identity and the hardships of being famous, and her music has skyrocketed in the charts.” Fans are intrigued to find out whether Chappell’s unique style and pop hits will help secure her first-ever Grammy.
The 67th Annual Grammys will be hosted on February 2, 2025, for any Barons planning to tune in. It will certainly be a memorable night!
