Thanksgiving: the time of year we gather around the table to share a highly debated meal and have awkward conversations with family members. If you’re struggling to come up with topics to discuss, don’t worry! Here are some foolproof topics that are sure to spice up your holiday:
The ultimate icebreaker, of course, is politics. With the elections being so recent and such a big deal, mentioning Baron’s suitcase, Melania’s hate for Christmas, or even Big Sister General is a great way to get everyone talking — or shouting.
When your mother shuts down the talk about politics, be sure to ask the 25-year-old playboy cousin when he’s finally going to settle down. Put all eyes on him, get him nervous, and be sure to mention how “perfect” of a relationship his parents (who hate each other) have, and how he should take notes. Not only will this get a glare out of the parents, but the playboy will finally be caught off guard.
“The dress” that everyone forgot about is a classic. The debate between it being black and blue or gold and white will always trip people up and make them question their eyesight.
These are just a few ideas to get you started, but always be prepared for anything when it comes to thanksgiving dinner conversations.
