All around Bethesda, new art installations have been on the rise. The Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District and Bethesda Urban Partnership initiated these artwork pieces, which have been incorporated into signal boxes.
One of the artists behind these designs is Nico Borrelli, a junior at B-CC. Borrelli has always had a passion for art, sharing, “I’m very excited to see my work in public, get recognition for the work I put in, and leave my mark on our community.” For Borrelli and many other local artists, this project provides a platform to share their talent and bring a sense of community pride through these unique and colorful displays.
This initiative has been met with enthusiasm from the community. Junior Heath Adlin said, “They look super cool. Signal boxes are normally ugly but with artwork on them they turn into something nice to look at and knowing that one of my classmates drew it is even cooler.”
